Collecting, Preserving, and Sharing Denmark, Maine’s History
Denmark, Maine is a small, rural community in southwestern Maine, near Pleasant Mountain, Saco River, lakes, ponds and forests. Contrary to Denmark’s name, it is not a danish settlement.
Denmark Historical Society was organized in 1989 to coordinate the efforts of citizens who demonstrated an interest in the history of Denmark, Maine and wished to encourage broad participation in the preservation and enjoyment of Denmark’s rich heritage.
More specifically, the goals of the society are to collect and preserve historical memorabilia, important records, documents and images relating to Denmark. And to join in events of Denmark today!
Our archives are located in the basement of Denmark Public Library.
The work of the historical society cannot move forward without active participation of members from our community. Consider becoming a member of the Denmark Historical Society.
We invite you to visit our website often, as we are continuously updating and adding content.
